The whole of China operates on a single Standard Time (GMT+8). The Baltimore-Washington area lies in the Eastern Time Zone (GMT-5). However, as the trip will be taking place while Daylight Savings Time is in effect in the US and China does not currently have a similar time change, for trip and trip-planning communications, Chinese time will be 12 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time.
