A. Assigned classroom seating at the 15 minute lunch allows students the opportunity to extend themselves to sit with people they may not get to know outside the classroom otherwise. We are all a part of the Willett family, and want to help students practice being respectful of and tuned into others. Sometimes when small groups of students rush to sit with each other, exclusion happens. Many students ate alone last year, and it wasn’t usually their choice. There is an additional 30 minute play period after lunch and 30 minutes during morning and afternoon recesses for students to interact with whomever they choose. Also, assigned seating provides more accountability for keeping our Willett campus clean and practicing good manners at the table.
