WHAT IS THE TEXT-TO-SPEECH SYNTHESIS?
The artificial sound generation has always been an interesting research area both in the past and present. In early stages, it had been considered in such applications which provide support mainly for blinds, it has now found a number of application areas. In fact, the idea of manufacturing a talking machine is not new at all; one could say that the last quarter of the 20th century became a successful period when the fruits of such a long-term effort had been obtained. The past works in this respect will be mentioned later herein. The speech synthesis converts a series of command or text (words or sentences) into speech waveforms using algorithms or previously encoded digital data. The text may be entered by means of a keypad, optic character reader or a previously recorded database. Speech synthesisers may be classified according to the amplitude of the speech units added together in order to obtain the speech at output or according to the methods employed in encoding, storage and spe
