The TIE is an an Internet exchange point (IX or IXP) or “public peering point” thats allows Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to exchange traffic inexpensively through a common switch fabric usually through on settlement-free basis. By connecting to the TIE facilities ISPs can peer with any other ISP that is connected to same the TIE facility, provided the peeering ISPs reach a bilateral peering agreement.
