What is the task of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance?
The task of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is to enable congregations and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to witness the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crisis and catastrophic events. It is carried out by working alongside the local church, affirming its role as the primary agent of mission and evangelism, and affirming our unity in Christ in times of disaster. This is possible through an ecumenical work and relationship with ACT (Action by Churches Together) and Church World Service (CWS), and through the connectional relationships with Presbyterian and reformed churches worldwide and presbyteries and synods in the United States.
