What is the Tariff Baseline Territory and where do I enter it in the Tool?
Note: Both this and the ‘Electric/Gas or All Electric’ question that follows can have a profound impact on a customer’s old and new bill calculations and the financial benefit from a solar system. Answer: The Tariff Baseline Territory varies by geography and local climate zone and helps some California utilities determine whether a customer should be charged at higher tier levels based on their consumption. The Tariff Baseline Territory Code usually (but not always) shows up on the customer’s bill and needs to be entered into the Electric Rates & Usage section of the Inputs worksheet. These lines will only appear in utilities where it applies, but it is critical that they be entered correctly so that the estimated old and new electric bills will be calculated accurately. If the Tariff Baseline Territory Code doesn’t appear on the customer’s bill (eg. Southern California Edison doesn’t show it), you’ll need to look at the utility’s Baseline Territory Map which can be found on their webs
