The American Diabetes Association recommends that the goal of therapy be an HbA1c level between 5-7%, however, each patient’s history, response to treatment and severtiy of disease will allow the physician to set individual patient goals. The ADA further recommends that physicians should re-evaluate the treatment regimen in patients with HbA1c values consistently greater than 8%.
