What is the tapping sound in my ear.?

As others have answered it is most likely a build up of fluid in you inner ear. Causes can be an ear infection, sore throat, common cold. While generally not serious get it checked out by a Doctor. A simple visual examination of your ear well tell him whats happening. If it is viral, it will generally resolve itself, if it’s bacterial Doctors will often prescribe a course of antibiotics. If you have it, I’m sure others do also, the doc will have seen a number of cases recently and know exactly what to do. In the mean time gargle with warm, almost hot saltwater, and use a good antiseptic mouth-wash.
