What is the TAP Card?
In 2006-07, Metro introduced a new type of bus pass called TAP. The bus pass looks the same as your old one on the outside, but inside there is a tiny smart chip. This chip requires electronic registration, a process that may take up to 48 hours to complete, so plan accordingly and buy your pass early before the quarter begins. In 2007-08 Metro is introducing a second generation TAP card to all UCLA GoMetro riders.
