What is the switch to digital television (DTV) from analog television?
Effective June 12, 2009 all television channels in the United States of America will have switched from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting. Without going into the technical details all this means is that the picture and sound quality of your TV viewing experience will be much improved and that television stations will be able to offer a great deal more viewing options on their channels. What’s more there will be a lot more programs in HD (high definition) available). Also, by completely switching to digital broadcasting from analog broadcasting it will be easier for the emergency authorities to disseminate important information.
