Sunnyvale DPS is a unique, fully consolidated, police and fire organization where the members are both police officers and firefighters. DPS employs approximately 296 personnel with 210 being sworn. All police and fire services are provided to Sunnyvale residents just as any other municipality provides police and fire service. Lower costs are realized and fewer personnel are used because all sworn members function in both the role of a police officer and firefighter.
