What is the suggested amount of doses one should purchase or does that vary by stallion?
I would think a minimum of two doses is smart. You never know what a mare might decide to do…or maybe the Vet gets impatient, breeds her too early thinking she is going to ovulate, so he can go home, only to find out the next morning that she hadn’t….so if you don’t have a back up dose, you are out of luck. Personally , I buy 4 doses for every mare. If you are lucky and get your mare in foal with one dose, I may buy the doses back from you, sell them, or trade you – as long as I am comfortable with where the doses have been and who has handled them.
