What is the success rate for In Vitro Fertilization?
In vitro fertilization (IVF) requires that a woman’s eggs is fertilized in a petri dish with her male partner’s sperm. Several fertilized eggs result and the most viable embryo are implanted into the woman. The success rate of IVF is 18 to 45 percent, according to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. The woman’s age and many other factors affect the success rate. A recent Stanford University study has determined that assessing four different factors can predict up to a 70 percent accuracy if a woman undergoing IVF will become pregnant.
