Due to the rigorous admission process, the great majority of students do pass the candidacy examapproximately 90%. If a student fails the candidacy examination, she or he has the opportunity to retake the test. In previous years, when students who failed the written, oral or both components of the Candidacy Examination repeated the test, nearly all passed the test and advanced to candidacy.
