What is the Study of Art History?
Essentially, studying art history entails examining artists, art philosophy and works of art. The history aspect pertains not only to learning, typically in a chronological format, about developments in art, but also learning about the historical and social contexts in which the art was produced. Studying art history can lay the groundwork for careers in the fine arts, performing arts, educations, art criticism, gallery work, museum work, archival work, arts administration, art librarianship and publishing.
