What is the student’s work commitment after graduation?
Upon graduation, fulltime students must work in a county child welfare services agency for two years. Parttime students must work in a county child welfare services agency for a period of time equal to the period for which they received support. Employees must return to their county, or the state Department of Social Services, in a position at a level appropriate to a new BASW in public child welfare. If a position meeting these requirements is not available in the agency to which service is owed, the student must apply for and accept an equivalent or higher position in a county child welfare service within a 75mile radius of the student’s residence. If this is not available, the student must search and apply for—and accept—a BASWequivalent or higher position in any California county child welfare services agency or with the California Department of Social Services.
