What is the Student Health Services policy on Tuberculosis (TB) skin tests?

0

Health Services has initiated a program to prevent Tuberculosis transmission, working with public health and college health officials. ESU requires that all students at high- risk of TB have clearance by a blood test. Chest X-Ray or ppd (skin) testing is not acceptable clearance for students at high-risk. Students at high-risk for TB will have a blood test done on arrival to campus. To determine if you are at high-risk or from a high-risk country, or have questions, please contact Mary McDaniel at: mmcdanie@emporia.edu. Students at low-risk for TB may be required to have a TB skin test if in certain areas of academic study, such as teaching or nursing. Those are available at low cost at Health Services.
