What is the structure of the Stanford Sloan Masters Program academic year?
August Orientation launches the Sloan year followed by a Pre-Term program that includes three short courses. Pre-Term provides Sloan Fellows a transition to the formal academic year which is divided into three quarters (Autumn, Winter, Spring). Sloan Fellows must complete a series of required core courses. Most core courses are scheduled in Autumn Quarter with a lighter core course load in Winter and Spring. Fellows will also take a minimum of four elective courses. Participants interested in a specific independent research topic may substitute a project for one elective course; the Sloan Fellow works with a faculty member whose expertise and interests match the project.
