Sounds like you are doing GCSE anthology! I did every single one of these poems, and I would say that structurally the best is Hitcher by Simon Armitage – the structure is basically the layout of the poem and the decisions the poet makes by way of how many words are in a line, how to break up the verses, and so on. All of these poems are easy to comment on structurally, as are most poems, as all they require are observations on the poem itself which can usually be your own point of view – and because it is literature you therefore will have a hard time being wrong! Remember that a verse in a poem is called a stanza. Refer to lines. You can also refer to enjambment – this is where one line is in two separate stanzas, separated only by a gap inbetween but no punctuation. If you need any help on poetic technical terms, email me and I will be glad to help, because once you get a grasp on it, it’s much easier.
