What is the Stream Area Threshold (SAT)?

The Stream Area Threshold (SAT) is a parameter that can be set in the Project Options form and indicates the scale at which the stream network will be calculated. Using raster streams it is simply the cut-off value by which each pixel’s contributing area is measured against to define if it is a stream pixel or non-stream pixel. Using the vector streams approach the SAT value is used to identify potential channel heads which may become the starting first order stream segments in the connected polyline network.
