usually it is in 3rd person, so you need to make it in first person to be unusual. Actually there is a story about how medusa became a monster, and it is that she was a beautiful woman whom Poseidon made love with in a temple of Athena and was turned into an ugly gorgon as punishment. There is also a version where her punishment is to have beauty which makes men so lustful that they turn to stone. And it would be most unusual to tell it from the view of medusa instead of perseus.
