What is the story behind the halo series (Include spoilers)?
Humanity is at war with a fellowship of alien races known as the Covenant. The Covenant is composed of species called the Prophets (weak but intelligent leaders), Elites, Grunts, Brutes, Jackals, Hunters, Drones and Engineers. Set just after Halo Reach, Halo Combat evolved is the first in the trilogy, and is about Spartan-117’s (aka the Master Chief) efforts to destroy Halo after it is revealed that the Halo rings are designed to wipe the universe clean of all sentient life to stop a parasitic alien life form, known as the Flood from absorbing everything in the universe. The start of Halo 2 is about the beginning of the Covenant invasion of Earth, and is later set on another Halo ring. During Halo 2, the Elites split off from the Covenant and ally with humanity because due to the death of the Prophet of Mercy by the hands of the Master Chief, they were replaced by the Brutes and betrayed by the Prophets.
