What is the Steorn magnetic generator?
Steorn is an Irish company who has made claims to have invented a device which uses so-called “free energy” to generate more energy than is put into the system. The device is known as the Orbo. As far as had been described, the device makes use of a configuration of permanent magnets to power a motor which has a coefficient of performance greater than 1. Orbo technology was briefly introduced to the main stream when, in August 2006, an advertisement appeared in the Economist which introduced the technology and called for scientists to join an independent jury which would attempt to validate Steorn’s claims. Another major event in the timeline of the Orbo was a cancelled public demonstration which was to take place on July 4, 2007, at the Kinetica Museum in London. This event added to the controversy surrounding the Orbo within the niche but passionate following it had gained. In December, 2009, a public demonstration of the Orbo did, in fact, take place.
