What is the statutory level of sick pay?
Employers are required to pay statutory sick pay under certain circumstances, for instance when an employee is out sick for four or more days in a row. This includes weekends as well as holidays, because it is paid covering the days during the week the employee usually works, and is called “qualifying” days. An employee is entitled to up to 28 days sick pay for any one period of illness.
