What is the status with the summer transfer credit policy?
Loyola’s summer transfer credit policy requires students to take summer classes only at Loyola University Chicago. The only exceptions are if a class at Loyola is full and the student can prove he or she needs the course to graduate or if the class is not offered at Loyola and is approved by an advisor and, depending on the program or major/minor, the dean or department chair. With the upcoming changes in the new core curriculum (see above question), the summer transfer credit policy is not likely to change, especially considering each core class will now have Loyola’s unique identity and values embedded in it. However, summer online classes are currently in the process of being developed. Their future implementation will allow students to take LUC classes from anywhere. Also, the Academic Committee is working on clarifying the policy for students and making them aware of the process to appeal classes.
