What is the status of the new Liberty™ Land Mobile Radio?
A. The Liberty Multiband Land Mobile Radio (LMR), introduced in 2008 and FCC-certified in early 2009, is in pilot testing under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Multi-Band Radio Program. The radio successfully completed trunking interoperability testing and has received Tiers 1, 2, and 3 approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior Radio Technical Service Center test lab. The Liberty radio is available under the U.S. Department of the Interior contract number GS-TFMG-BPA-09-0012 and through the GSA Schedule. For the most up-to-date information on Liberty, click here.
