The HRMS project started in 1997, with the purchase of PeopleSoft. In 1998-1999 the Student project also chose PeopleSoft, and because these two systems share a database, it was necessary to merge the projects. Since that time, much work has been done in the installation, configuration, analysis/design, and infrastructure implementation. However, because Indiana University will be creating a set of electronic forms for end users that will integrate transactions across systems (including HRMS and the FIS), we also needed a version of PeopleSoft that could accomplish this — version 8.0 which was released in Fall 2000, will allow IU to do this. With these issues in mind, the timeline for implementation of HRMS and the electronic documents that will replace the paper forms, will be implemented in December 2002.
