What is the status of the Disaster Housing Assistance Program for Hurricane Ike (DHAP-Ike)?
FEMA began working with displaced Texans almost immediately after the storm to help them find long-term housing. DHAP-Ike, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, reduced the number of applicants who would have been housed in temporary housing units such as mobile homes or park models. DHAP-Ike has helped nearly 10,800 families relocate to apartments and other long-term housing. These families are also receiving case management services for employment and other needs.
