What is the status of Performance Based Method Systems (PBMS) in NELAP?
Most laboratories are accredited for prescribed methods such as those found in Standard Methods, ASTM or EPA Method Manuals. While EPA supports the use of new performance-based methods, their use in laboratories is not yet common, probably because of the reluctance of regulatory programs to accept their use.
