What is the status of ALMA?
ALMA will start scientific commissioning at the high site (5000m on the Chajnantor Plateau in northern Chile) in late 2009. The first call for Early Science is expected to be released toward the end of 2010, with observations being carried in the following year. The call will target scientific programs for an array of 16 antennas, baselines up to at least 1km, all available antennas will be equipped with at least four frequency bands and full polarization capabilities, several continuum and high spectral resolution correlator modes will be available.
