All Taught programmes officially begin on the last Monday in September. For 2009, the start date is Monday 28th September 2009. However, induction events typically take place within the two weeks leading up to the official start date. All Research programmes begin on the first day of any month in the year. This excludes September, when the start date can be at any point in the month, and in January when the start date has to be the first Monday the University re-opens after the Christmas shut down period.
