What is the standard sidearm for police officers?
The short answer to this question is that there is no standard sidearm. The longer answer is that each department picks its own standard issue sidearm. That said, most departments choose to standardize a 9mm pistol of some form. Glock and Sig have a large portion of the US pistol market and most departments choose guns such as the Sig 225 because they are reliable and inexpensive.
