What is the standard process to get a license?
All applicants have to take an initial written test and an eye test. To prepare for the written test there is a drivers book which is available here for $16. We keep a copy on hand so you do not have to buy. After passing these tests, you will get a G1 license which will allow you to drive only with a licensed driver who has at least 4 years driving experience in Canada. After 12 months you can appear in a road test to qualify for a G2 license. Q: Is the 12 month period for the road test mandatory? A: No. This period can be reduced if you get your drivers training from an approved drivers training institute. There are many such institutes with varying prices. The price could vary from $250 to $350 or even more. If you go through these institutes, it is an indication of driving skill and will help in getting the G2 license earlier.
