What is the Standard Offer Program?
• The Standard Offer Program reduces the barriers and sets payment rates for small energy producers who want to sell renewable energy to the provincial system: • Located in Ontario with an installed capacity of no more than 10 megawatts (MW) • Connected to the Ontario electricity distribution system at a voltage of 50 kilovolts (kV) or less through an eligible local distribution company (LDC) • Generates electricity from wind, thermal electric solar, solar photovoltaic, renewable biomass, bio-gas, bio-fuel, landfill gas or water. • Began commercial operation after January 1, 2000 • And can meet other eligibility requirements such as connection impact assessment, environmental assessment, demonstrated site access, as well as other contractual terms. Suitable for: • Larger facilities than those for Net Metering. • Businesses for whom electricity generation is a viable additional area of operations. • Organizations and individuals who can devote time and resources to establishing a renewa
The Standard Offer Program encourages and promotes greater use of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, photovoltaic (PV), renewable biomass, bio-gas, bio-fuel, landfill gas, or drop in water elevation for generating electricity. Renewable electricity generation projects with capacity of 10 MW or less, which meet the program’s requirements, may be connected to PowerStream Distribution System for exporting electricity.
The Standard Offer Program encourages the use of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, photovoltaic (PV), renewable biomass, bio-gas, bio-fuel, landfill gas, or drop in water elevation for generating electricity. Renewable generation up to 10 megawatts, which meets the program’s requirements, may be connected to the Hydro Ottawa distribution system. Who is eligible to participate in the Standard Offer Program? Participation in the Standard Offer Program is available to all Hydro Ottawa customers with a generator that meets all of the following conditions: 1. Generates electricity using renewable sources of energy; 2. Has a generating capacity of no more than 10 MW; 3. Is connected to the Hydro Ottawa distribution system at 50 kV or less.
