What is the standard hook up wire for popular guitars?
The majority of guitar companies including Fender and Gibson use 22 AWG (American Wire Gauge) standard hookup wire. Fender used a cloth braid wire in the early days and with vintage models now built. Fender also uses Teflon coated hookup wire. The Teflon wire works better than soldering, but I like the cloth braid for the vintage look. Gibson also uses a 22 AWG cloth braid wire with an exposed shielded braid. The same type of wire used on the single conductor humbuckers especially the Patent Applied For humbuckers that Seth Lover designed.
