What is the sport of Ultimate all about?
Ultimate is a team field sport just 40 years old. It is played on a field 70 yards long and 40 yards wide with a 25 yard endzone at each end. Seven players on a team start each point similar to a kick off in football. They line up on opposite sides of the field from each other as a player on one team throws (pulls) the disc to the opposing team. The recieving team, through passing the disc, attempts to score by catching the disc in the endzone. Running with the disc is not allowed. A dropped or intercepted pass results in a turnover and the other team immediately gains possesion. Games are played to 13,15 or any predetermined number. Ultimate is self officiated, unique in the team sports world. Ultimate is immensely popular throughout the U.S and growing throughout the world. Most Colleges and Universities in the U.S. have teams. There is little equipment needed for Ultimate though and so not much incentive for sponsors to support Ultimate on TV selling their products. College Ultimate
