There is record of a Mexican Hairless cats that lived in the early 1900’s. The cats from that lineage became extinct. All current Sphynx can be traced back to “Epidermis”, a bald cat born in Toronto, Canada in 1966. The Sphynx gene for baldness is a mutation and recessive.
