What is the specific amount ONA will receive back from the American Nurses Association (ANA)?
We believe this question arises because of the decisions made at the national level with respect to the relationships between ANA and its former affiliates the United American Nurses (UAN) and the Center for American Nurses (CAN). Prior to the disaffiliation, ANA was sharing the dues money it collected with UAN and CAN. Because all of that money will now go solely to ANA, plans are to give states that are part of UAN a 50% monthly rebate of the UAN portion of the dues, and states that are part of CAN will receive a 50% rebate of that portion of the dues as well. That means the portion of the ANA dues that had been going to UAN and/or CAN will be shared between ANA and the states. The rebate is to last for two years. The rebate will likely be used to pay CAN and UAN directly with the amounts owed based on the number of members taking advantage of the workplace advocacy through CAN or collective bargaining through UAN.
