What is the song meaning of Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional?
From my interpretation it’s about a person changing for the better in a relationship, friendship etc. “Hope dangles on a string, like slow spinning redemption.” There is a little bit of hope to change and the person is slowly redeeming themself from the person that they were before. “Vindicated, I am selfish, I am wrong, I am right, I swear I’m right, swear I knew it all along and I am flawed. But I am cleaning up so well, I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself.” Vindicated as in innocent. Admitting the person’s flaws and saying that they are changing. “Swim against the current, so let me slip away.” The other person swims against the current with ease, but the he/she can’t, so let him/her slip away.
