What is the social value of the BERMS project?
The forestry industry is Canada’s largest natural resource industry (Boreal forest facts – Natural Resources Canada, 2002). Forest is also host for other human activities such as hunting, trapping, and tourism. The BERMS project will provide information for forest management and sustainable development. As well, monitoring the processes in the boreal forest will help us understand future effects and feedbacks associated with climate warming, providing input for governments on national and international greenhouse gas policies.
