What is the size of Sacred Heart Schools’ Endowment?
The Schools’ endowment is fortunate enough to be one of the largest among Bay Area Independent Schools. As of June 30, 2007, the endowment was over $42 million. The earnings used towards the 2006-2007 operating budget were approximately 4% of the entire budget. The remainder of the revenue must be generated from tuition and gifts from alumni, parents and friends. One of the greatest challenges the Schools face is to create affordable education and competitive compensation in an extremely expensive locale. To this end, the Schools must increase the proportion of the operating budget funded by endowment income. Endowment provides permanent sources of funding for financial assistance to students and compensation to attract the highest quality faculty.
