What is the situation regarding spares?
A. Generally it’s pretty grim, but it depends on the item. Most electronic components are either in stock or available off the shelf from component suppliers. Most parts which are specific to Lokata products are in very short supply, or unavailable. The thermal print head, for example, is no longer manufactured. The printer mechanism is usually serviceable and can be reconditioned. Mouldings and case parts are not available. The Lokata Active Antenna system is not available, but a suitable model from another manufacturer can usually be found. The Navtex printer-controller chip is not available. On rare occasions, a ‘donor’ unit will become available allowing re-use of rare parts.
