What is the situation in other parts of the world?
Efforts to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from road vehicles are underway in many parts of the world. The U.S., Canada, Japan, Korea, China and Australia already have regulatory or voluntary approaches in place, some of which are now being reviewed with the aim of delivering further improvements in fuel efficiency and reductions in CO2 emissions.
