What is the single most important issue that will influence your vote in the next presidential election?
Putting my answer in here, I’d say the single most important “meta-issue” for me is the candidates focus on domestic problems, specifically the horrific neglect of our nation’s infrastructure that allows bridges we’ve known for 17 years to be unsound to collapse and kill people, or levees we knew for a long time were unsound to allow hurricanes to kill people or make them homeless in New Orleans. We need to become a nation of builders again, and any guy that makes this a strong or central focus is the candidate for me. Nearly all of our infrastructure dates back over 60 somewhat years, some of it back over a century, with work being done only piecemeal to patch it up. We have made incredible advances in engineering technologies in this time, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at our roads, bridges, levees, mass transportation, energy grids, or buildings.
