What is the similarities between the earth with the axis and the walking stick with the lady ?
Precession? Staying with cycles, Earth has a few relative to its motion that affect solar influence. The major and most noticeable is the tilt that gives us seasonality. Because the tilt has a fixed direction (think of a man stood holding a cane drawing a circle around an orange on the ground, the cane being the tilt) on one side of the Sun the tilt is away from the Sun, on the opposite side it is towards the Sun. Tilt varies cyclically and there are also perturbations. The full cycle is the minimum to maximum to minimum incline. We are currently at ~23.44 degrees (of angle, 23.439291111078 in 2000) moving towards the vertical (minimum tilt). The full range for our purposes can be given as 22.1 to 24.5. After the mid point in the the reducing angle half of the cycle, 23.3, is associated with deep, protracted glaciation. Time wise, the last maximum was ~8700 BC, mid ~1550 AD and the next minimum will be ~11800 AD.
