What is the significance of your recently announced gold discoveries in the Tulawaka Mine region?
Gold deposits often occur in clusters within particular regions. It would be unusual for the Tulawaka gold deposit to occur in isolation in the western part of the Lake Victoria goldfield. We believe that there likely are other gold occurrences in this region. The area remains relatively unprospected due to an extensive veneer of sand cover over the bedrock. In 2003, MDN launched a systematic exploration program with minimal financial resources. In 2006, these financial resources were substantially increased. Our four new discoveries announced in 2005 and 2006 confirm the presence of other mineralized deposits in the region and encourage us to continue looking. Even though it is still too early to determine the size of these discoveries, they have characteristics similar to Tulawaka, including high gold grades, the presence of gold in the veins rather than in host rocks and the association of veins with certain types of fractures and shears.
