What is the significance of the stars on my childs calendar?
A star on your child’s calendar represents over 7 hours of sustained good behavior. This does not mean perfect behavior – there may have been a time during the day when your child was engaging in a negative behavior, but if they receive a star on their calendar it means they were given a warning and corrected the negative behavior. Seven hours is a long time for a kindergartener to keep it together…those stars are a BIG deal and should be treated as such. Additionally, when a child accumulates 20 stars they can eat lunch in the room with the teacher – always a fun event. So hang onto those old calendars until your child has had a chance to cash in those stars. They are like money in the bank!
