The Viscosity is an important fuel characteristic although in itself it does not relate to the quality of the fuel. For ship operators, it is important to know the right value to determine both ideal storage and injection temperature. Viscosity is quoted in mm2/s at 40 °C for Distillates Fuels and at 50 °C for Residual fuels.
