What is the significance of the Duplex terminology?
A Duplex refers to the ability of the Tie Coat to create superior adhesion and durability between the systems vastly different epoxy anti-corrosive layer and the silicone Surface Coat, effectively interlocking the two by employing a unique thermoplastic elastomeric formula. Additionally, the original Duplex name came from the use of two silicone Tie Coat and Surface Coat layers to achieve a superior overall system from the point of view of toughness, durability and foul release. Back to Top Q What makes up the total DFR system? A The full system consists of four coats: • First coat Marine or Industrial Immersion grade anti-corrosive / barrier epoxy or epoxy sealer in the case of application over concrete • Second coat – Marine/Immersion grade anti-corrosive / barrier epoxy to which FHSMs tethering agent is added. • FHSM Tie Coat. The Tie Coat is the heart of the Duplex System, imparting superior adhesion and toughness to the system while maintaining superb fouling release properties. •
