What is the significance of Kuan Yin?
Kuan Yin, also known as Kwan Yin in other traditions, is the manifestation of Great Love and Great Compassion. Her name means “one who hears the cries of the world”. Kuan Yin is most often represented as a female deity but has the power to assume whatever form is necessary to fulfill her vow to save all beings from suffering. She is often shown holding a vase containing the waters of compassion, the lotus flower of enlightenment, or the jewel of the three treasures.
